Portfolio
slogan To be the company clients turn to for their most technically demanding construction projects, we hire the best talent. In turn, we know that our success as a company is directly linked to the success of our people. As a result, we are dedicated to building the skills and experiences that will help them excel both personally and professionally.

ORIENTATION
Atkinson's orientation program is designed to help new employees feel like a part of the team from day one. For the first week of his or her employment, each new employee is paired with a "sponsor" (a more senior staff member). This helps transition the employee into a new work environment. Atkinson sponsors introduce new employees to staff in other departments, provide a jobsite tour, and host a lunch with the employee's new co-workers.

MENTORING:TEAM ATKINSON
The Team Atkinson Mentoring Program pairs entry-level new hires with an employee who has several years of operations experience. The program provides new employees with information about the construction industry, it enhances professional development, facilitates relationships with other employees, provides the opportunity to interact with industry experts, and helps "transplanted" program participants become familiar with the local area.

ROTATION PROGRAM
To best match a new employee's skills and interests with Atkinson's work, we have an in-house rotation program that enables employees to encounter several facets of civil construction. These may include estimating, preconstruction, operations, and more.

An important part of finding a good "fit", this program also provides a foundation for teamwork, and an intimate understanding of how each department operates and the role it plays in the organization.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Our in-house training program (Atkinson University) provides employees with technical, management, and leadership classes that help them with current assignments and set them on a path to achieve their long-term career goals. Additional informal programs - mentoring groups, seminars, and jobsite tours - ensure that learning is ongoing. In addition, Atkinson employees are encouraged to take advantage of the educational programming offered by our parent company, Clark Construction (Clark Corporate University).

Employees are also encouraged to seek outside training to help sharpen or develop skills, educate them on the newest industry technologies and techniques, and help them grow in their careers.

Atkinson's Talent Management program allows employees and supervisors to have annual career discussions and plan for the next year's development. This process also provides employees and supervisors alike with a clear understanding of their expectations for, and commitment to, the other and to the company.
