news item Bob Adams Named AGC of Washington's Contractor of the Year
May 2010
SEATTLE - Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington named Guy F. Atkinson Construction Regional Vice President Bob Adams Contractor of the Year. This honor recognizes Mr. Adams' outstanding career with Atkinson as well as his two decades of work with the AGC.

Mr. Adams has been with Atkinson for nearly 40 years and, in this time, he has traveled across the country and the world to support the company's projects. In 1989, he relocated to his native Seattle to help establish Atkinson's Northwest region. Mr. Adams has been integral to Atkinson's success there and, under his watch, the company has been able to offer more expanded services. His expertise, combined with the relationships formed through his AGC of Washington involvement, has helped Atkinson move to the forefront of design-build highway construction.

Mr. Adams has a long history of leadership within the AGC of Washington. He served as the organization's president in 2002 and has sat on the group's government affairs, labor relations, and public affairs subcommittees. He currently is co-chair of the AGC-Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) task force.

Lee Kilcup, 2009 AGC of Washington President called Mr. Adams "a true diplomat of the first order. Bob has the esteem of not only owners and the unions, but also his peers."

WSDOT Secretary Paula Hammond said his "leadership at Atkinson Construction and with the AGC has resulted in an extremely positive and productive relationship with the Washington State Department of Transportation...He is truly an industry leader and icon."
