Description

Access Downtown completes a series of local street improvements in and around downtown Bellevue and specific freeway enhancements at key interchanges. Access Downtown adds a new interchange at Northeast Sixth Street for high occupancy vehicles, giving buses, carpools and vanpools direct access to an expanded Bellevue Transit Center. It improves freeway interchanges at Northeast 4th, Northeast 8th, and SE 8th streets. The freeway work is being completed in phases to minimize disruption to traffic as much as possible.

Project benefits include, new direct access ramps at Northeast 6th Street will allow buses, carpools and vanpools to get on and off the freeway without having to cross several lanes of traffic. The project provides improved easier access to and from downtown Bellevue, improves traffic flow on I-405, makes room for future expansion of I-405. Finally, the project invests in the growth of downtown to minimize impacts on neighborhoods.
