Description
Construction of a 220 foot long four-lane bridge over the Sammamish River, construction of 1,500 feet of roadway, retaining walls on the approaches and at the abutments; slope excavation and contouring of 1,000 feet of the river's banks. The bridge has a unique structural and architectural design, by Entranco, that specified 8,000 psi concrete for all bridge sections above the drilled shaft foundation cap.
The stream work was done during a mandatory two-month work window in accordance with permits. Construction water was disposed of by infiltration through onsite settling ponds.
The project won the 2002 Construction Excellence Award - Heavy/Highway/Utility $5-$10 million from the AGC of Washington.
