I-15/Limonite Ave Interchange
Atkinson improved the interchange and built a bridge over I-15—one of the most traveled freeways in Southern California.
The project team reconstructed the existing tight diamond interchange to a partial cloverleaf interchange with spread diamond ramps, loop entrance ramps, and a new bridge crossing over I-15 at Limonite Ave.
The scope of work included a 380-ft. x 150-ft. cast-in-place box girder bridge, as well as 200,000 cubic yards of excavation, 85,000 cubic yards of new roadway paving, pavement markings, and electrical installations.
Atkinson used a phased demolition and construction approach to keep the Limonite Ave bridge open to traffic during construction.
