Macagua II Hydroelectric Project

The Macagua II Hydroelectric Project includes the development of a 2,580-megawatt hydroelectric facility and the construction of a seven-story visitor's center. Additionally, the project involved the creation of a 12-gate spillway, a concrete gravity dam equipped with intake structures for the powerhouses, concrete non-overflow transition structures, and the construction of two bridges to support a national highway.

Over the course of eight years, the project's owner implemented varying paces of progress, leading to several decelerations and accelerations in construction activities. Atkinson’s adaptive management techniques brought the project to a successful completion despite a number of challenges.
