Atkinson is designing and constructing two single-span bridges in order to eliminate five fish passage barriers in the Chico Creek watershed. Both bridges are being constructed with cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete, eliminating the need for culverts that serve as barriers to fish. The longer bridge will span over 200 feet. The project’s design will restore Chico Creek to its more natural condition and promote wetlands expansion by allowing Chico Creek and its tributaries to flow unimpeded by piers in the water.

Atkinson is working closely with the Suquamish Tribe, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and WSDOT on the environmental aspects of this project.
