SR 167 70th Avenue E. Vicinity Bridge Replacement

Fife, WA – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has awarded Atkinson a $40 million contract for the SR167/70th Avenue E. Vicinity Bridge Replacement project. Atkinson will construct a new four-lane 70th Avenue East bridge (with a shared-use path) over I-5 to reduce congestion and improve safety on the arterials and intersections in the project area. Work includes widening both directions of SR 99, constructing a new roundabout at the 70th Avenue East and SR 99 intersection, making improvements to the Interurban Trail, and constructing a new trailhead parking facility. This project is the first of three stages for WSDOT’s SR 167 Completion Program which will extend SR 167 south to connect with I-5 and the Port of Tacoma. Design has begun and Atkinson has slated project completion for June 2021.
