November 18, 2014
CORONA, Calif. – Atkinson's Robert Rodriguez, Yard Manager on the SR-91 Corridor Improvement project also serves with the Aviation Support Battalion, 40th Infantry Division, of the National Guard. Last month, Robert nominated the SR-91 Corridor Improvement project team for their dedication to supporting men, such as himself, and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserves.
Rachel Taylor of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented awards to Atkinson's Vice Presidents, John Harrington and Tim Stroud. John Harrington was honored with the prestigious Seven Seals Award, recognizing individuals, employers, or supportive organizations who have demonstrated meritorious leadership and initiation in supporting men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. As its name suggests, the Seven Seals Award bares the seals of the seven components of the National Guard and is the most inclusive award given by the ESGR. Tim Stroud received the Patriot Award for consistently demonstrating a selfless attitude and genuine concern for his employees.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support National Guard soldiers with necessary accommodations in order for them to adhere to the demands of deployment, caring for their families, and flexible schedules to attend training. Specifically, Tim and John provided Robert Rodriguez a flexible schedule, ensuring that he was able to attend required and critical training with his unit without sacrificing productivity on the project.
