Rebuilding Together Atlanta Teams with Businesses to Honor Our Heroes on Veteran’s Day

Atlanta, GA – Batson-Cook Construction organized more than ten Atlanta-area general contractors and subcontractor firms to join forces with Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA) in celebrating Veterans’ Day by refurbishing the home of military veteran Anthony Williams and his mother Christena Solomon.

Born in 1968, Anthony went into the Army right after High School where he was stationed at Fort Sill in the 13 Bravo division as a cannon and artillery crewmember. Today, Anthony lives with his 62-year-old mother, Christena Solomon, to help her with daily life. Confined to a wheelchair, Ms. Solomon is disabled and subsists entirely on Social Security benefits. As such, they cannot afford personal care so Anthony has become her full-time caregiver. They also cannot afford to repair and maintain their home. Consequently, the place Anthony and his mother have called home for 40 years was deteriorating.

Thanks to generous donations from these participating businesses and the volunteer support of Atkinson Construction, Rebuilding Together Atlanta helped this military family with critical repairs to their home including construction of a handicap accessible ramp, new siding, exterior paint, landscaping and more. As a result, these homeowners can have pride in their home again – and live in comfort and safety.
