The project involved exploring, developing, and mining the ore deposit at the Gold Road Mine. Key activities included rehabilitating existing infrastructure, such as declines, raises, escapeways, and ventilation systems, to bring the mine back into production. Development work focused on drifting to access sublevel stopes, mining narrow vein gold ore (ranging from 2 to 8 feet wide), and using Alimak raise and cross drifting methods to establish shrinkage stopes. Ore was hauled up a 15% decline over two miles to a processing mill on site. Additional work included installing ventilation fans and air doors, creating new escapeways, and building mine rescue chambers. The project also involved excavation and support for decline and ore body development drifts, as well as sublevel stoping using various mining methods, including slusher scrams and timber raise chutes. Production mining was conducted in designated areas, with further development of sublevels and ore passes to facilitate extraction.
